it’s been 5 years since SuMo, and he’s the lead scientist at the aether foundation. he also has a side job as the dark type elite four member. he’s very sweet and is something of a big brother figure to the protag, despite a bit of a layer of melancholy from missing his little sister :( shes fine she just never checks her text messages

Prefacing this by saying I don't condone the Aether Foundation's actions but admittedly trying to recreate Arceus with the RKS System is objectively cooler than trying to recreate Mew. Mew itself is just an ancestor of all known Pokémon and therefore has a great deal of genetic potential. It's not a god necessarily.

Both are still incredibly inhumane and fucked up, but at least I can understand the hubris of wanting to create a man-made god.

I saw to you got some idea from the leaks °_°. I do wonder what you got in mind!

Btw, just in case. The...uh... act that Typhlosion did was horribly mistranslated.

But I've been wanting to include Looker and the International Police for a later part, but also I've been kind of determined to get Nihilego in there somehow because it's one of my favorite pokemon lol. (A dark part of me wants Carmine in her mental breakdown era to mistake Nihilego for her dead brother, kind of like that pokemon anime episode where Mohn was living with Nihilego thinking it was Lily)

But the leak in particular that I found interesting was this one.

Arceus plate fragments in Silvally Disc's. It speaks a lot for what the Aether Foundation was researching and makes it so easy to tie Sun and Moon into PLA considering the plates appear within rifts.

I've been wondering where I should take Juliana since I have plans for all the other characters, but this little tidbit right here pretty much let me take a little plot I have in mind for Lying in Sunshine a bit further. 😉

I am thinking to myself "Hey Angi can you draw something else than fluff". No somehow at the moment I am unable to draw anything else.

In this week I drew this and a bunch of Researchethicshipping stuff that I post soon. I am literally boiling with idea. Please give me more time Dialga.

Here we have Lilac and Faba! Yay- who even is she btw.

I try to explain as shit as possible:

In my dumb Story she is Fabas Assistant (thats why they share similar outfits) but before that, she helped the Aether Foundation out with a "little" Ultra Beast disaster that was going on in Alola. Strong Trainers all around the world were asked to help out and since this snitch just finished going to the Academy (as an adult since she was never allowed to be a trainer before thanks to her possesive mother. Is other story) and obtained her Champion rank in Paldea (which is a whole other arc) she had nothing better to do than going to Alola. And boom there she met Faba who invited her into the Aether Foundation. Then a bunch of things happend, Fabas Villain arc, betrayel, Forgiving, understanding, Lilac being dense, blabla, and for now things are kinda fine. Faba wants to change but has a lot of issues with himself, mainly his pretty shit and unloving past comes up to him a lot. So Lilac (and Colress later too) support him on that Journey with a lot of love and support.

That's literally it as summary (honestly without background knowledge this sounds very boring iehrkwjhd). But the story will get bigger than that since I want them to visit a l l possible regions and let them do something there. I already have a lot of ideas for some regions. (For some others not XD)

Also I am looking for a Shipname for these two. My first and only idea was PurpleBeanShipping but I am not really vibing that much with it for now;

I already said so much but one last thing 💀 Lilac ofc respects Faba a lot. They work very close together and hide their relationship as much as possible and only do things when nobody is around. But just as with Colress some Co-Workers probably know what's going on by time.

Also she uses Boss or Branch Chief quite often only to spoil him. She usually is very soft to him but well that usually can also be different. Still soft tho 💀

sorry I took a while to respond to this ask! I've just been thinking on how to structure this... thank you for the ask... my excuse to talk about nixon...

(I have multiple characters planned to go alongside nixon but I have not finalised their designs yet- so I don't want to talk about them just yet oops)

the TLDR of his whole thing is that he worked in the 'pokemon care' part of the Aether foundation for a while, climbing the ranks to head vet before he was moved to work on aiding in the creation of type: full because of his knowledge on pokemon biology. he dropped out the project before it all fell apart after realising his work was being used to create a weapon. he later quits working for the foundation entirely after an incident and goes into education instead.

lore titbits:

-he is married and has two daughters, his family means the world to him.

-he has a amazing memory but is time blind, because of this he often stays up much later then he means to

-he is half kalosian (fathers side)

-speaking of kalos, his klefki was a gift from a relative in kalos

-his least favourite type is ground- because working with ground types means his uniform usually ends up gets dirty

-he used to enjoy battles and frequented the battle tree. he was pretty competent but fell out of it as he got older, his team is mostly 'retired' from battling now

Okay, part of the problem with the cutscenes in USUM is that so many of them just, aren't necessary.

For instance, most recent part I've played, let's look at how the Aether Foundation and Malie City go.

Aether Foundation is introduced in a cutscene

You get a max 30 second break to run around a small area with nothing to do

Then you get another cutscene where you meet Lusamine

Then a quick battle with Nihilego

Then another long cutscene comprising of leaving Aether and the ferry ride to Ula'Ula

Theh another to introduce Malie City and remind you to go to Malie Garden

Hit up the pokemon center, it and the docks being the only thing before Mali Garden

Walk four steps and get waylaid by Hau for a battle and reminder to hit up Malie Garden

Don't bother trying to walk passed it- Lillie will stop you and remind you to go to Malie Garden

Get a cutscene as you enter Malie Garden

Get to run around a little bit, do some exploring, until you come across Kukui

Another cutscene that's functionally just 'we saw an Ultra Beast!' 'Cool! Go down Route 10 and do your next trial!'

Leave Malie Garden and run directly into a scene with Lillie who says she's going to the library

Freedom! You can explore the city as long as you don't get too close to the library entrance, and maybe even go onto Route 11 I didn't try it

Still though, Route 12 is closed off until you finish your next trial and 11 is short so the only other way to go is Route 10

Try and you will be stopped until you finish the Lillie stuff

Go to the library and you immediately get a cutscene that exists only to go 'btw Hapu is here too and might help Lillie, some other time'

In the library, a cutscene and then a brief moment of getting to walk around

Another cutscene

Finally get actual freedom to leave the town and do whatever- at least until you get to the end of Route 10 where Kukui arrives to go 'pokemon league *winkwink*' and escort you onto the damn bus to the next trial

It's ridiculous. And entirely unnecessary. You could literally cut out the entire thing with Malie Garden and it would change nothing except having less railroading and cutscenes. It doesn't do anything for you, the game's not about to let you miss the next trial, you literally can't go anywhere else without backtracking. And having multiple little cuts there for the Lillie stuff is just- Again, you don't need it.

Just, have your team heal at the end of the Aether cutscenes. Hau challenges you when you arrive in Malie City. Cut the whole Malie Garden deal. That frees up a bit of breathing space. Put Lillie a little farther up the road, so players can notice and go to investigate the Garden themselves if they'd like without being drawn into her stuff damn near off the bat.

When you trigger her scene she asks about her mom, then notes that she hit a clothes shop up the road and got a new outfit, though she can't see herself wearing it (a statement that especially so soon after meeting Lusamine and with so little between them would put a pin in player's heads). She tells you she's planning to hit up the library, and hopes she'll be able to find it on her own before heading off.

Look at that! With just that we've cut out a good three cutscenes! And a roadblock! Then you can have Lillie's library stuff trigger when you enter the library, with her noting that she got lost on her way there but a nice lady with a Mudsdale showed her where to go. This cuts out another cutscene. If you really want to open shit up, you could allow the player to just rush right up Route 10, since the path back from the trial drops you back in Malie City right next to the library anyway.

Without the Malie Garden stuff, you can cut that bit of Kukui faff at the end of Route 10, instead giving him just the whole League monologue at the top of the mountain. Instead, if you have to get him informed of the Wormhole stuff you see, you can add that to the stuff that comes after the trial, which I fucking hope is not as much a slog as all this shit- it has been a while. It would still be annoying but less so.

And bam! You open up and lift the weight off a whole portion of the game that feels bogged down! It would be less work even, aside from possibly putting in some code to trigger the Rotomdex to go 'oh hey isn't that the library Lillie wanted to visit the first time you enter Malie City from that direction if you haven't already met up with her. But for some reason I doubt that's that much more effort than putting together four extra cutscenes and two roadblocks.

oh btw i meant to talk about this back when you discussed lusamine a while ago, but i'm not sure i ever really interpreted it as her being forgiven (in Sun & Moon, anyway). i mean granted i haven't played SuMo since like when it released so take all of this with a grain of salt, but especially for gladion, i don't remember anything about him forgiving her (though again, i could be wrong)

and as for lillie… i kind of think she a lot of mixed, conflicting feelings about it, like she doesn't entirely know what to think of it all yet. in particular i like to interpret the "when did you start becoming beautiful" line in like a complicated, messy, bittersweet, too-little-too-late way — like, this is something lillie's wanted to hear from her for so long, so why doesn't it feel good?

yeah i fully admit it's been a hot minute since i've fully played through sumo despite how much i love it so the specific details are very foggy. tbf i don't recall saying gladion forgives her? i could definitely be misremembering but i know as a character it'd be a lot harder for him to forgive lusamine compared to lillie. if i did say something like that i think i was just mixing it up with him eventually taking over the aether foundation.

and yeah that's fair. lillie helping lusamine recover doesn't necessarily mean she forgives her, but rather it's a stepping stone to potential eventual forgiveness. i want lusamine to have to earn her kids' trust and forgiveness back.

Ok so in the gen 7 games the player comes to alo.la as some rando tourist invited by prof ku.kui and then they meet lillie and do the island challenge and pkmn league and become the champion of the region

Personally I do not follow that at all cuz alo.la is based off hawaii idk it's a bit iffy how some foreigner just comes and does main character stuff and everybody praises them ahajdkdkl becuz native hawaiians do not encourage tourists to just come...

So my s/i goes to alo.la as part of some conservation programme for academic research and social outreach or something like that, for like 3 months. This detail makes me rlly happy becuz conservation is exactly my irl ambition and it makes my selfshipping have some sense of groundedness aaahhh. And also becuz in alo.la in particular, the bonds between people and the natural world/pkmn are emphasised and it's exactly this love of nature and culture that are like my biggest passions and interests so idk it's just rlly comforting to self insert there and think I can do this sort of thing that I'd love to do irl, even from a non selfship perspective with kia.we

Anyway so a couple days after s/i moves in they meet kia.we at wela volcano park (the site of his trial-which are basically gyms in gen 7) and tries to find a nice place to watch the sunset, not knowing kia.we was the trial captain. They end up talking a bit and kia.we decided to stay with s/i when the sky darkened, becuz apparently coincidentally that day some graveler were like gathering in large numbers and as the trial captain he thought it was better to help s/i navigate their way down without disruption to both parties.

Tbh the first interaction isn't rlly fixed, mainly it's them meeting at wela volcano park is the fixed detail.

So then s/i visits kia.we somewhat regularly from them on and they start crushing on each other. S/i visits him in the evening when his trial captain duties are over and before he was gonna head down the volcano for his night job at a supermarket (canon that he has a job) (but I made up this schedule cuz funnily you can also find him at the top of the volcano at night)

They start doing that super regularly, and then kia.we gets laid off from this job that he was working to save up to study traditional dance abroad.

So even though its quite upsetting (and like truly... I feel rlly sad for him😭), they have more time to spend with each other at night!!! They end up talking till late at the volcano and at some point wren also visits kia.we's house and stays over, or they go on dates around alo.la. I think trial captains should have some free days so they also go on dates then :)

They both talk about their ambitions and ideals especially cuz when you talk to this npc about battle styles (the throwing the Pokeball) you want your character to have, when you choose Reverent style, he hints this. Basically you have to battle kia.we in sun and mall.ow in moon to get this style.

And I love this detail so much becuz they outright say kia.we is a romanticist... He has dreams he holds on to... And like me too you know... So at some point I think they sit and talk about their dreams and passions. Cuz like I really want someone to talk to about mine 😭

Another cool thing is Aether foundation conducts conservation and research so my s/i can be helping them with research and outreach

The president of Aether foundation is Lusa.mine, Lillie's mother (my s/i is also friends with lillie), who in the games is obsessed with finding ultra beasts and becomes corrupted by one, basically the villian of the game (im not very sure about USUM, I haven't played those)

So being in collaboration with the Aether foundation, my s/i might find out and get involved in this plot too, just not in the main character way the MC does hahaha

Also, s/i has to go back to their home region (idk where) after their programme, and in the main lore he and kia.we end up in the same university together somewhere (I think s/i's home region), while in some AUs they don't see each other again for years Hahaha

So Rainbow Rocket really was an Illusion and they all wanted to beat up each other. (Except Cyrus, he just wants to be left alone)

This is going to be a fun villain event. Gio pissed everyone off.

Also Guzma and Team Skull are also just there because of Lusamine and the Aether Foundation. But then again Guzma would never say no to a good beat down.

ngl really like the Villain event in Pasio. (btw I do feel bad for Lear.Guy just wants to prove he is a worthy heir [he even had his story arc] and everyone wreaks havoc in Pasio and yoinks his pal Hoopa)

I don't think this is rainbow rocket at all, at least not in the same sense as Sun Moon's rainbow rocket 😅

I haven't been able to follow all the villain events because i was busy and i missed some, but it's cool every villain got their moment to shine (some less than others but whatever) and they're doing a finale, they've been building this up for so long with gio scheming in every events, i wonder what'll happen.

My prediction is gio will do some horroble thing and everyone will work together to beat up giovanni. Then they'll beat up ghetsis.

Just a thought:

How would evil team leaders react to Pecharunt when he makes the news of 'EVIL POKEMON RAVAGES PALDEA' or smth?

Giovanni- He'd want it to make money/help with his goals. Dokutaro would say no. (Sane thing for the guy who does this in Johto)

Maxie and Archie- Probably be wondering why this Pokémon isn't expanding the land/sea and whether or not it could do that.

Cyrus- He wouldn't care.

Ghetsis- HE WOULD CARE. He would definitely want to "work" with that Pokémon and be like "yes hello can I assist with your goals" but the second Ghetsis doesn't need Dokutaro he'd be like BYE.

Lysandre- I have a feeling he would be like "what the fuck" when first hearing about it. But while he wouldn't really have a use for it, Lysandre would not want to stop it (because he doesn't want Dokutaro to fuck up his plans, etc)

Aether Foundation/Lusamine (does this count? Sure.) - Lusamine would for sure want to get her hands on Dokutaro. While Dokutaro isn't an Ultra Beast, he could help with Lusamine's goals (and maybe use some mind control for fun)

Team Rainbow Rocket- Since their whole thing is gathering all the evil team leaders from the different universes, they'd want to have Dokutaro join them (makes for a fun meeting, all the people there are humans and then there's Dokutaro just chilling)

For the rest of the generation, they aren't really "evil" (Team Skull, Team Star, Tell Yell, etc)
